EA FC 26 Career Mode - 5 Early Impressions

Here are early thoughts on EA FC 26's "career mode."

Background: I played the everlivin' heck out of EA FC 25's Career Mode (CM). I have a very specific way of playing CM where I select the lowest possible created team and budget and build strictly from the academy. I fund scouts and coaches by selling all the players I start with, unless they are under 20. I start in League 2.

Okay, five thoughts...

1. Career mode got further buried in the opening menu. I'm not even sure how many "modes" there are in this game now but one thing is for certain - career mode isn't one EA wants to feature.

2. It is much the same as last year. The look, the menu functionality, and where things are.

3. They made it easier to know which stat column you are on by highlighting it. Seems small but these small things tell you about the big things.

4. Gameplay: Not sure yet but they are pushing two modes. I'm trying to play on what I think is a slower paced mode. In the old days we called the alternative fast mode "Arcade." Not sure why EA didn't use that, instead it's confusing. And of course they give you a dozen sliders to further mess with things.

5. The "Instagram" news thing is still a repetitive missfire. not sure why they don't wallpaper the background with news. I get that there is a theme but they should just keep it to your particular league (or let the user choose like Football Manager). I don't need news from the women's game, in particular, unless I take a coaching position there.

QUICK HITS... It's effectively the same game as last year (so far), and that's fine... the score bug and in-game messaging look much better than previous years. Give that person a raise... I haven't signed any academy players so I don't know if they added facial hair or took out the "funny" running animations.
