Atomfall: Putting a pin in it

After roughly 13 hours with Atomfall, I've come to the decision to pause my playthrough and explore something new. It's undeniably a good game, yet there's a certain je ne sais quoi missing that prevents it from truly grabbing me. Could something as simple as a day-night cycle make a difference?

The game certainly has its strengths, particularly in allowing players to unravel its mysteries independently. However, this strength occasionally veers into frustrating obtuseness, leaving me struggling to understand the overarching narrative. This isn't a criticism of the English setting, which the game seems to highlight. In fact, those glimpses of British culture resonate with me deeply. My mother is English, and this 1960s era played such a significant role in shaping the lives of her parents.

Despite this personal connection, the game feels a little too cold and distant even though I'm likely near the end of the story.

I have a feeling a restart might be on the cards before the year is out, but for now, Atomfall is going into the backlog.
